Mr. Kamal Y. Sinno
Founder
Kamal Y. Sinno was a dedicated Lebanese entrepreneur who
devoted his later years to community service and poverty alleviation. Over
nearly six decades, he built Toy Market Trading (TMT) into a regional group and
served as the General Manager of Kay Holding, having completed his studies in
Business Administration and Management at the University of London.
Moved by the co-existence of severe hunger and food waste in
Lebanon, Kamal co-founded the Lebanese Food Bank in late 2011 alongside a group
of fellow business owners. As its first President, he helped establish a
practical system to collect quality surplus food from hotels, restaurants, and
caterers for distribution to vulnerable communities, guided by the simple
belief that everyone deserves access to good food. His quiet, steady dedication
created the foundation for an organization that remains a vital lifeline today.
In His Own Words:
"My beloved country has been in distress since the
civil war in 1975... In 2020 we re-witnessed another catastrophe: The Beirut
Blast. However, it is our job as Lebanese citizens to remain resistant and
resilient.
Since the establishment of the Lebanese Food Bank, I have
committed myself wholeheartedly to its objectives... I always believed in the
following words: 'It is not by bread alone that man lives' but by love alone
man lives. If love is found, bread is found for all. In my heart, love is
abundant, and for that, I hope I can improve the quality of all people's
lives."
